True Lies

from Tabula Rasa by King Nobody

/

about

I wrote this ditty on guitar with folk vibes almost 30 years ago. This fresh rendition of it is much more now. Danni G produced, I performed everything.

lyrics

If I stood up to your eyes, would I see the truth in all your lies
or would I stand in wonder and awe?
Content to be bewildered by the things that I saw.

Oh but I know, and I see.
The lies in the truth that you gave me.
and I see, that you don't know...
Where the lies in the truth are hiding.

Well if I stood up to your shoes...
Would I always follow the paths that you choose?
Or would I break away form the chains
free myself from the bonds that you made?

Oh but I know, and I see.
The lies in the truth that you gave me.
and I see, that you don't know...
Where the lies in the truth got to show oh oh oh.

But I know that when we see the truth we lets the lies flow.
And you think you know, but you don't. I know because I don't know.

and if you do you do and if you try we do and I will say eh tu?
And if you try you can say you do. I say eh tu? I'll say eh tu?

King Nobody seeks to allegorize and proselytize the ego by proxy of his characters, strapping in with a giant, howling harmonica that springs from a lo-fi well, nested in Americana and psych folk, with a vocal timbre akin to Damon Albarn and temperament abreast of Les Claypool. ... more
